Prep Platypus
Term Four has been very busy for Prep Platypus. We have been learning about writing letters and reading stories about letters. One story was about a monster, so we all wrote a letter to a monster to ask him to come to play. Together we wrote an email letter to a Prep class in Brisbane where Mrs Gurnett’s grandson Teddy goes to school.
In Prep, writing is a bit tricky but Prep Platypus are getting very good at copying sentences with capitals, full stops and finger spaces. Lots of children are trying hard to write consonant - vowel - consonant words (eg cat) correctly when they are doing their own writing. We are all starting to write our own sentences.
Last week we made our Outdoor decorations. Thank you to everyone who donated the myriad of objects that could be used in these constructions. The children designed their decoration and then chose materials to make their design as well as that it could be used outside. Some interesting discussions about materials and their properties.
The most exciting event so far is our swimming lessons. It is good to see that the children are listening to their instructors and having fun in the pool. Swimming lessons have been a great prompt for the children to write a recount. They especially enjoyed the bus journey. An exhausting week but lots of fun too. Not far until the end of the year now!
