Prep Koalas have been busy engaging daily in small group learning experiences. Behind each task is a carefully designed activity that incorporates the development and strengthening of each student's fine motor and gross motor skills. Fine motor skills involve the use of the smaller muscle of the hands, commonly in activities like using pencils, scissors, construction with blocks or duplo, doing up buttons and opening lunch boxes. Gross motor skills are those which require whole body movement and which involve the larger muscles of the body to perform everyday functions, such as standing and walking, running and jumping, and sitting on the mat. They also include eye-hand coordination skills such as throwing, catching, and kicking. We really enjoy learning with our friends both inside and outside of the classroom. Watch us grow and learn throughout this term as this is only the beginning!
