APRE News

Welcome to the end of Week 6 - it’s been lovely to have some cooler weather this morning!

Last week at the assembly, the Year 1 Echidnas presented an assembly on the Feast of Mary Help of Christians (who our neighbours are named after).  Mary is the Patron saint of Australia, as well as in our Diocese here in Townsville, so is an important figure in the landscape of the Catholic Church in Australia.

Year 4 Dragonflies did a wonderful job of presenting assembly today on the theme of ‘Reconciliation Week’.  They did a wonderful job of reflecting and reminding us that God’s dream for humanity is one of justice, equality, compassion and understanding, of forgiveness and mercy.  They prayed that we may all walk together with our First Nations people of Australia in a spirit of reconciliation and unity.

Classes have been doing age appropriate activities around ‘Sorry Day’ and Reconciliation week to further reflect on this message.  Please see some of the images below.

Benny’s Got Talent

It’s back for another year!  As a part of our Feast Day celebrations (Friday Term 3, Week1), we have our ‘St Benny’s Got Talent’.  Mrs Pugh spoke to the children on assembly this morning about upcoming auditions.  They will perform auditions in class first, with classes asked to submit a maximum of 2 registrations to Mrs Pugh by Friday in Week 9.  Final auditions will then take place in the final week of this term, and successful acts notified period to the holidays.  It’s always a wonderful occasion, and I would encourage students thinking about it, whether they can act, sing, dance, tell jokes, sword juggle, etc, to step out of their comfort and put their name down to audition!
