Welcome to the end of Week 8 - it’s certainly been a busy time, and it’s crazy to think that we’ve only got 2 weeks until the mid-year break!
Last week at the assembly, the Year 2 Magpies presented an assembly on the Ascension of Christ. They spoke about how, before Jesus ascended into heaven, he told the apostles that we would send them a helper to give them courage and wisdom, hope and joy - the Holy Spirit. They prayed that we can be spirit filled people who bring hope and joy to others.
Year 1 Bandicoots presented today on Pentecost, where Jesus’ promise was fulfilled by sending the apostles the Holy Spirit during Pentecost. Today the Bandicoots prayed that our hearts be filled with the spirit so that we can light up the world by serving those around us.
These two feasts mark an important time in the Churches calendar, as these celebrations form a central part of the teachings of the Catholic Church. Today on assembly we spoke to the children that we are all spirit filled people, and we can all show this in how we treat one another every day.
Sacramental Program
A big congratulations to our St Benedict’s children who participated and have now completed the Sacramental Program. They have been preparing throughout the year, and finished their sacraments of initiation by being Confirmed by Bishop Tim, then receiving their First Holy Communion last Sunday. It was a wonderful celebration for these students, their families, as well as for the parish as a whole, as we celebrated these children’s full initiation into the church. The students were reminded that it is then important, as it is with all gifts, to go out and show the world these gifts through their actions.
Athletics Carnival
Please read Mrs Huston’s newsletter article below with further details on our Upcoming Athletics carnival, particularly around “pre-events” for certain year levels. Flyers for these events have also been attached below. Please note that on the day, students are welcome to be signed out and taken home early, however, it is a requirement that they are signed out with a member of the administration team first.
