NAIDOC Celebrations at St Benedict’s
Today our whole school came together to celebrate NAIDOC Week. We began in the hall with an Acknowledgement of Country and Prayer, before moving into a rich variety of activities that allowed our students to engage with culture, creativity, and connection.
Our younger students (Prep – Year 3) enjoyed activities such as boomerang painting, watercolour art inspired by Albert Namatjira, weaving, braiding, yarning sticks, keychains, and games.
Our older students (Year 4 – Year 6) took part in printmaking, hand painting to create both flags, storytelling in the library breezeway, beads, bookmarks, boomerangs, reading, games, and face painting with ochre.
It was wonderful to see our Year 6 students stepping into leadership roles by assisting with face painting, supporting the boomerang activities, and helping our groundsmen with pack down.
The day was a great success, filled with joy, participation, and respect. Thank you to all staff for your flexibility and enthusiasm, and to our students for engaging so positively. Together, we created a memorable celebration that honoured the spirit of NAIDOC.
Thank you to Lizzy Christie, Danya Lawrence and other staff for organsing and coordinating today’s events.
Prep Assembly – God’s Creation
Today our Prep Platypus and Prep Koalas classes hosted the final school assembly for the term. Their theme focused on God’s Creation and one of our 2025 school goals, Accountability.
Our Prep students led us beautifully, reminding us of the importance of caring for God’s world and taking responsibility for our choices. We are very proud of the way they presented with such confidence and joy.
A heartfelt thank you to our Prep teachers and staff for preparing the students so well, and to the many parents and family members who joined us today and throughout the term. Your presence and support make these occasions so special for our children.
We wish all students, parents, and families a safe and happy holiday break.
School will resume on Wednesday, 8 October. Please note that Monday, 6 October is a public holiday and Tuesday, 7 October is a student-free day to allow all staff to attend the Diocesan Mandatory Professional Development Day.
