APRE Report
WELCOME BACK
A huge welcome back to Term 2! I trust you all had a restful break and are recharged and ready to go for another busy term! This week we commemorated ANZAC Day with a special Liturgy held on Friday in the Hall. The Liturgy was prepared by students in Defence Force Families, who did a wonderful job of leading us in prayer. A big thank you must go to Miss Leza for helping to organise the students and display items. A big thank you must also be extended to Katie Solari who presented an ANZAC Day address. It was wonderful to acknowledge and commemorate ANZAC Day as a community, especially with our schools ties with the Air Force, being built on an ex-air force base.
ASSEMBLIES
Normal assemblies begin on Monday, with Year 3 Kookaburras leading us. In next week's newsletter, I will give a timetable when each class will be presenting assembly during the term. Our assemblies begin at 8:45am on Monday mornings, and ALL parents and friends are invited to attend.
SEASON of EASTER
Before we went on holidays we were in the season of Lent, which marked the 40 Days leading up to the death of Christ. On the weekend, we had Easter Sunday, which marked the joyful resurrection of Jesus. The Church is now in the season of Easter. The Easter season is 50 days long, with the Feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit, marking its end. Ascension Thursday occurs 40 days after Easter Sunday. The festive colours used during the Easter season are white and gold. Easter is the most important season in the Church’s calendar, and is certainly a joyful time in the Church.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
Next week marks the start of Instrumental Music at St Benedict’s. Mr Nic Mitchell will be teaching our students a range of instruments, including guitar, piano and drums. He is extremely excited to begin our music program, and I’m sure our students are also excited! Keep your ears out for our future shining stars!
Have a great week and God bless,
Nick
