APRE Report
A big welcome back to what is sure to be an action packed Term 4!
October - Marian Month
We are currently in the month of October which carries with it some importance in the Catholic Church. Firstly it is known as a Marian month with a special focus on the Rosary. The Rosary is a traditional prayer that honours Mary and at its centre focuses on the life of Jesus Christ. You may be interested in saying the Rosary, even just a decade of the Rosary during the month of October. If you’re aren’t sure how, you can visit the following link: https://childrensrosary.org/?page_id=2049&lang=en
October - Mission Month
The month of October is also Catholic Missions Month. This year, Pope Francis has called for an Extraordinary Year of Mission. This acts as an opportunity for reflection, prayer and support for the missionary efforts of individuals, communities and the whole Church. Last year we started the tradition of Catholic Mission Markets at St Benedict’s to raise money for Catholic Mission Australia. Next Friday at 12:00pm we will be holding our Mission Month Markets, where each class, as well as OSHC and the Tuckshop have organised stalls for students to participate in. You may wish to send your children to school on Friday with some coins or small amounts of money to participate in our Mission Markets.
