Principal's Report
Hi everyone,
Welcome to our final term for year and what a whirlwind it is going to be. Please do your best to keep up with information coming from your teachers and through this newsletter as we do have a lot happening. Our school calendar is also a good source of information for upcoming events.
Next week while I am away at an Indigenous Education Conference and the Townsville Catholic Education Principal’s Meeting we will be having Missions Market Day. We started this last year and the kids had a great time buying little treats and participating in games and activities run by other classes. Your teachers may have already asked you to contribute something towards the class stall for this already. The students may like to bring along some pocket money to spend on the day (Friday 18 October). All money raised on the day goes to support Catholic Missions Australia.
Please note that Monday 21 October is a Pupil free day as it is in all schools across the state. OSHC will be available though I know places are very limited. Following our Pupil free day, we will have Book Fair in our library from Tuesday to Thursday. All purchases go towards some free books or resources for our school and there are great ideas for Christmas available. The library will be open before and after school during the Book Fair for parents to peruse what is on offer with or without your children.
Please note in advance that our swimming lessons for all students will be during Week 5 - 4 - 7 November with the Swimming Carnival on Thursday 14 November at Northshore Aquatic Centre. All children will get to the pool via bus for swimming lessons and for the carnival. Parents are very welcome to attend the carnival. A timetable guide will be available in the coming weeks but generally, students participate in one main race and then some rotational fun activities both in and out of the pool. There will be some times when students will be required to wait in a tent area and cheer for other students who are racing. The day should conclude by about 1.00pm where parents are welcome to take children home or they will be bussed back to the school for quiet activities in their classroom until pick up time.
We have been very pleased with how most of the students have returned to school this term and we look forward to having them enjoy the term in preparation for the transition to the new year. I know many of you have registered to join the Kindness Walk initiative from the Be Kind Townsville group. I’ll see you there :)
Cheers
Penny
