Principal's Report

Hi everyone,

We are now 2 weeks down and already the term is flying by.  I have been out of school this week attending the Queensland Catholic Indigenous Education Conference and Principal’s meetings with principals from around the diocese.

Monday Pupil Free Day

Looking forward to next week, Monday is a Pupil Free Day.  On this day our teachers will be working hard on our annual Reflective Practice day.  This will give all of our teachers an opportunity to look at their planning and classroom practices and reflect and continue to further develop their practices moving forward.  As in any profession, teaching is constantly evolving to suit the needs of our students and our teachers at St Benedict’s are committed to this. We are certainly very proud of the work that our teachers do and we are looking forward to new learnings on Monday.

Before School

It has come to our attention that many students are being dropped off at school in the morning as early as 7:30am.  We understand the business of morning routines but would like to remind families that there is no supervision provided until 8:00am. Our Outside School Hours Care facility opens at 6:30am and it would be expected that if students are at school without parent supervision before 8:00 that these facilities would be being used.

Day for Daniel

Next Friday, October 25 is the annual ‘Day for Daniel’ which aims to raise awareness for child safety.  ALL students are invited to wear red shirts to school on this day. There is no money required for this but all classes during the week will look at child safety lessons, many of which can be found on the Daniel Morcombe Foundation website if families wanted to hold discussions about this as well.

World Teachers Day

Next Friday is also World Teachers Day.  We are very proud of the work that our teachers do at St Benedict’s and look forward to celebrating them next Friday.

Cheers,

Penny
