APRE NEWS
Thank you to the Year 2 Lorikeets who presented assembly this week on the theme of ‘The Third Week of Lent’. They spoke about the message of Jesus being like water, which gives us life. When we drink this water, we will be on the right path, heading in the right direction. Lent is a time to reflect on this journey we are all on.
Project Compassion
Along with the Diocese of Townsville, our school is supporting Project Compassion. Each week during Lent, Project Compassion release a story of the work they are doing to support people throughout the world. This weeks story is about Sakun.
“Sakun, 32, is a Gond indigenous woman living in a village in central-east India. She developed polio as a child and has difficulty walking. Until now, she has been isolated in her community, unable to earn a living and with no knowledge of support schemes that could help her. With Caritas Australia’s help, she learned how to access the disability support she’s entitled to and has set up her own thriving business. Her income is growing, along with her confidence. Sakun now participates in village decision-making, her progress motivating other community members to reach for their goals.”
To find out more about her story or see what Project have done to support, see the following video link:

Each class has a Project Compassion box in their classroom, and any donation would be greatly appreciated. A little goes a long way.
Have a great week and God bless,
Nick
