Principal's Report
Wow, only one week to go and what a week it is going to be with many classes participating in Eisteddfod throughout the week and our Ecofest on Thursday. It has been a long and tumultuous term with lots of sickness and exhaustion going around but next week will highlight the culmination of some significant areas of learning. While I understand getting along to the Eisteddfod is tricky this year due to Covid restrictions, we would love to see as many of you as possible come along to our Ecofest on Thursday from 11.30am -12.30pm. This year’s event will be our biggest one so far and will have opportunities across the school to engage with including tours of our Bushtucker Trail, Country Farm Garden and chicken coop. Each year level will showcase what they have been doing for their eProject.
Next term, we hit the ground running with the next step in our 5 year School Improvement Process- Verification. Verification involves a Townsville Catholic Education School Services Team (not the one we work directly with) coming into our school over a two day period to engage in a presentation by our leadership team about our successes and our challenges and where we as a leadership team provide a collaboratively discerned rating on each of the ten Characteristic of an Effective Catholic School. The Verification Team will also interview staff and parents and do classroom observations to make recommendations and commendations about our next steps. Next year, we have Validation which is where we will finalise our goals and priorities for the next five year cycle. This process has been very affirming for us so far as we have a lot to be proud of as a school community but we have also drafted some aspirational goals in preparation for the next five years. We also strive to be the best we can be.
Next term we are thoroughly looking forward to moving into our new library and setting up new classrooms and meeting spaces that we can access before the year is done.
Please enjoy the last week and I hope your families will enjoy the break from school in the coming weeks.
Have a fabulous week.
Cheers
