It’s the end of Week 7 and it’s hard to believe there are only 2 weeks left of the term! We started today with 4/5/6 Jellyfish leading us in assembly on the theme of the Season of Advent. It’s certainly a challenge in schools, as advent traditionally begins in the first week of December, which of course is our last week of school. The Jellyfish lit candles on the Advent Wreath - the four candles symbolise hope, peace, love and joy. They prayed for God to open our hearts so that we may receive the message of the coming of Jesus with joy and wonder, and to help us to discover the people and places we encounter in our daily lives where God meets us with love and care.
This week we also hosted the St Vincent de Paul Society, most of the Catholic schools in Townsville as well as Mayor Jenny Hill and Bishop Tim Harris to launch the St Vincent de Paul Christmas appeal. This appeal asks us to give a little so that those in need within our greater Townsville community may have a Christmas filled with joy. Last year, through donations from schools and businesses, the society assisted around 200 struggling families in our region. Please see the flyer below for suggested items that you can donate to the appeal - any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated.

This year we are having an End of Year Mass, led by Fr Clement. This will be a great celebration of the year that has been at ST Benedict’s, and also a way of farewelling our Year 6 students as they depart for high school. ALL are welcome to attend - with a special invitation extended to the parents/families of our students in Year 6.
Step Up Day is an opportunity for all students attending St Benedict’s in 2022 to meet their new teacher and spend the morning with their class and teacher for next year. It’s always a very exciting morning!
O Holy Night is certainly a favourite on the events calendar. This year it is taking place on Wednesday December 1. The event will be taking place on the low oval, gathering at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start.
