Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

What a whirlwind of a week we have had. It has been wonderful to have all our students back this week and see them reconnecting with friends, making new friends and basically getting into the routines of school. We have been especially proud of our Preppies this week who are coming along in leaps and bound with settling into their new environment. For so many young ones, school can be a massive adjustment with a new environment and new people all with new expectations and ways of doing things that are different to home or Kindy. This can be all combinations of exciting, frustrating and overwhelming and can take some time for children to navigate.

Car Parking, Pick Up and Drop off

Safety is our shared responsibility and priority and to ensure we continue to maintain a safe environment for families entering and exiting the school, I want to remind everyone about slowing and stopping for children near or on pedestrian crossings, especially the one near the Kindergarten on Bishop Putney Avenue. Children are easily distracted and therefore it is up to all of us to be vigilant. Please also use the pedestrian crossings yourself when walking around the carpark as we are all role models for our children who are still learning the road rules.

Covid-19 updates

Please note that we continue to have staff and students testing positive to Covid-19 who are then isolating for the required time. Please continue to monitor symptoms within your own family and keep children home if they have symptoms. We all want to get through this wave of the pandemic as safely as possible. Children from Year 3 -6 are encouraged to wear masks and all adults on site at school should be wearing masks too.

Communication

Please check out our school Facebook page for general school information and to see photos of our students engaging in all different areas of school life. If you are not already a member of our Parent Facebook page, I’d encourage you to check that out too as we have an amazingly supportive parent community who will generally help out with any questions, however if it is information you need from your class teacher or from our office, emails are the preferred mode of communication.

Looking forward to a wonderful year ahead with you all. Have a fabulous weekend.

Cheers

Penny
