P&F Meeting
At this week’s Parents & Friends meeting, we were very happy to book in some dates for our postponed Burgers by the Billabong which will now be held in Term 3 on Saturday 31 July from 4.00pm till 6.00pm. We have also booked in a School Disco on Thursday 27 May from 6.00pm- 8.00pm and don’t forget we have our Mother’s Day Wine and Cheese Evening coming up soon on Friday 7 May from 7.30pm here at school. Dads, if you haven’t thought of anything yet, why not get mum a ticket for an early Mother’s Day present? We have had some very generous donations from local businesses and families as lucky door prizes on the night and it is sure to be a lovely opportunity to meet some other mums.
Morning starts
Please note that we are again seeing children being dropped off at school before 8.00am. There is no adult supervision being provided before 8.00am and it is not fair on parents waiting with their children to be expected to supervise other people’s children. This needs to stop. Please make alternative arrangements before 8.00am
Have a fabulous weekend. See you all next week.
Cheers
Penny Collins
Welcome to the end of another week! We started this morning being led on assembly by 4/5/6 Jellyfish, whose prayer was centred around the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Before breaking last term, we were in the season of Lent. Currently, we are in the Churches season of Easter, which celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and is central to our Catholic faith. The season of Easter lasts for 50 days, and concludes with the Feast of Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit. Ascension Thursday occurs 40 days after Easter Sunday and marks Jesus’ ascension into heaven. Easter is the most important season in the Church’s calendar and is a time of great joy and celebration.
Fun Run
We have rescheduled the school Fun Run for ALL students for Friday 14th May (Week 4). Students are encouraged to wear their house colours and parents are welcome to attend, wiith some viewing areas provided. Please see flyer below for approximate starting times.
PEACE Initiative
Our school PEACE initiative has been going very well, with many students engaging in some small demonstrable goals set by Mrs Collins earlier in the term. We’ve certainly seen an improvement in our ‘Care for Community’, with much less rubbish being visible around school. A lot of students also guaranteed us on assembly that they have been showing ‘Persistence’ in working on saying “please” and “thankyou”. 4/5/6 Jellyfish shared a wonderful video about Persistence on their assembly, and I wanted to share it with you. Please click on the link below (a note for Bluey fans, it contains some snippets of Muffin working with Persistence to complete a difficult task!)

Project Compassion
If your family had collected any money for Project Compassion last term, please return these boxes to the office so we can process our final donation to this great cause.

NAPLAN Testing Dates.
Year 3 and 5 students will partake in NAPLAN testing on Tuesday 11th May. There are four tests that years 3 and 5 will undertake:
- Writing
- Reading
- Conventions of Language
As children progress through their school years, it is very important that checks are made along the way to see how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and mathematics.
NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress.
This year our students are moving to online testing, with the exception of the year 3 writing test which will still be completed on paper. Students have been engaged in learning about the types of questions that will be on the NAPLAN test and how to navigate the site. You and your child can access the Public Demonstration Site to familiarise themselves with the type of questions and related functionalities available in the NAPLAN Online assessment.
This website (https://www.nap.edu.au/home) provides further information and resources about NAPLAN.
