Thank you to Renee Neville for reaching out to Townsville City Council from a parent perspective regarding our concerns about the intersection at Dalrymple Rd and Bishop Putney Avenue. While it's not great news in the short term, at least it has been confirmed there is a plan in place.
Good Morning Ms Neville,
Thank you for contacting Council to request road management located at Dalrymple Road, Shaw. We apologise for the delay in responding.
Thank you for your safety concerns and requesting council consider new infrastructure to resolve the traffic congestion and ease congestion of traffic in and out of St Benedict’s Catholic School into Dalrymple Road, Shaw. Greater Ascot is expected to extend, and this includes the construction of a new road proposed to connect onto Dalrymple Road, located opposite Bishop Putney Avenue. As part of building this new road, it is proposed to upgrade the channelised intersection to a signalised intersection at that time. Hence, Council supports in principle the upgrade of the Bishop Putney Avenue/ Dalrymple Road intersection, but the works would occur commensurate with the development of the Greater Ascot subdivision, by the developer.
I appreciate that this is not the outcome you had hoped for but thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns with Council.
Kind Regards,

Our building project got some headway this week with the weather settling and things are generally tracking well. At this stage we can still expect our library and new classrooms to be complete and ready for use for Term 4. Already looking at furniture and white goods orders.
Next week we look forward to our Fun Run on Friday where all students will get to participate in a run around our school grounds and we have school photos on Monday. Our Year 3 and Year 5 students will be participating in NAPLAN Online across the week
This evening we have our Mother’s Day Wine and Cheese Evening which I’m sure will be an enjoyable night for all those participating. Thank you to all those parents and staff who have assisted in getting this event together.
Sunday does mark a special time in our calendar with Mother’s Day. Please have a lovely day with your family and loved ones.
Have a fabulous weekend. See you all next week.
Cheers

Welcome to the end of another week! We started this morning with the Year 1 Wallabies leading us on assembly on the theme of ‘Mother's Day’. They asked for a special blessing to be placed on all our mothers and mother like figures, who give so much. The Wallabies all showed great confidence and did a wonderful job speaking and dancing throughout the assembly. It was also wonderful to see so many mothers and grandmothers able to join us on assembly (including my mum and mother-in-law), which made the prayer all the more special. I wish all mothers and mother figures in our lives every blessing, you are ALL so wonderful!
Fun Run
We have rescheduled the school Fun Run for ALL students next Friday 14th May (Week 4). Students are encouraged to wear their house colours and parents are welcome to attend, with some viewing areas provided. Please see the flyer below for approximate starting times.
School Photos
School Photos are happening this coming Monday, May 10. A reminder if you haven’t already to ensure that ALL envelopes are returned to school on Monday if you are wishing to order class/individual/sibling photos. Students are to wear their usual uniform for Monday (Sports for Prep, Formal for Year 1 - 6).

This week the Dolphins are learning all about time in maths. We began our lessons outdoors, drawing analogue clocks with chalk, then finding our hour and minute hands in nature using sticks and leaves to then display times.
