Thank you to everyone who responded so positively to my messages about the importance of wearing our school uniform last week. It has been wonderful to see some improvement in this area.
This morning however, we lost all our St Benedict’s students and staff and we welcomed a whole stack of Book Characters into our school. There were so many characters and they covered the theme of Old World, New worlds, Other Worlds very well. Thank you to Mrs Whalley who has planned our Parade course this year and all the Book Week activities in the library. Thanks also to all the parents and family members who were able to come along and enjoy the frivolity of the morning. Please see our facebook page for most of the photos from today’s fun.
Festival of Sport
Next week on Thursday, the majority of our Years 4/5/6’s will be off to play OzTag, Netball and Basketball in Townsville Catholic Education’s Festival of Sport. We wish them well and know they will have a fabulous day of competition and sportsmanship.
Pupil Free Day
Please remember that next Friday 3 September is a Pupil Free Day. Children will only come to school if they are booked into OSHC.
Father’s Day Mini Golf
Don’t forget our P&F have organised a fun morning of mini-golf for Father’s day on Sunday 5 September. Please get in quick for tickets as it is bound to be an awesome morning with the kids.
Have a fabulous week.
Cheers

Students of Hogwarts, from the Marvel Universe, Disney Princesses, Minecrafters, Nintendo characters, Wonderlandians, Ozians, dragons, nursery rhymes and people from all other ‘worlds’ - we certainly had a great time during Book Week this morning!
We didn’t have our class-led assembly this week, but I thought I would bring to your attention that this Sunday is ‘Social Justice Sunday’ in the Catholic Church. The Australian Catholic Bishops have created a ‘Social Justice Statement’ for 2021-2022 which is titled, ‘Cry of the Earth, Cry of the Poor’. Their statement affirms that, “We human beings need a change of heart, mind and behaviour’ when it comes to caring for our environment and those people who are less fortunate in our society. The statement especially encourages Catholic families, communities and organisations to listen to the First Nations people and familiarise yourselves with the Pope’s ‘Laudato Si’ encyclical to plan steps towards a sustainable future. You can find out more at THIS website. It’s certainly relevant to our school community, with Stewardship (sustainability) being something we truly value at St Benedict's. If you’d like to see the launch by the Catholic Bishops, you can click on the below link to take you to the video. I’ve also attached a prayer below to inspire us to take in the Wonder and Awe of God’s beautiful creation! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvLX2BQiOjM
