Well so much for attending the QCPPA Conference in Yeppoon this week. I got sick over the weekend and most of the week off feeling very under the weather but thankfully Covid Negative. There are certainly some nasty illnesses going around this season.
Ecofest and Athletics Carnival
Next week, we will be hosting our annual Ecofest on Wednesday 22 June from 11.30am -12.30pm. We are looking forward to showcasing our learning with the community.

Leadership Workshop
On Thursday, our Year 5 & Year 6 students will participate in a leadership workshop with presenters from Unleashing Personal Potential’ (UPP). The workshop we are doing is called Positive Peer Relationships. This is some information from their website.
Positive Peer Relationships is about building personal and social skills to enhance the quantity and quality of our interpersonal interactions.
Positive Peer Relationships has two distinct sessions that each run for approximately 90-120 minutes. The two sessions are GROWING MY SOCIAL SKILLS and BUILDING STRONGER RELATIONSHIPS. They are delivered at your school in a single day by Unleashing Personal Potential, to whole year level cohorts.
SKILLS DEVELOPED AND CONCEPTS COVERED:
- THE POWER OF EMPATHY- focussing on standing as one, respect and appreciating differences.
- BULLYING & THE SCIENCE OF KINDNESS- learning about the potential impacts of bullying and kindness, on others and on ourselves.
- ACTIVE LISTENING- practical skills for strengthening relationships.
- CONFLICT RESOLUTION- learning how to be assertive, rather than passive or aggressive.
- FORGIVENESS VS HOLDING A GRUDGE- "Forgive others not because they deserve forgiveness, but because you deserve peace".
- TEAM WORK- Working collaboratively in teams to achieve more. Structured opportunities to apply what has been learned.
- RISING BY LIFTING OTHERS- Learning how to give a genuine shout out.
Have a fabulous week.
Cheers
Penny
Welcome to the end of Week 9! Our Prep Koalas presented assembly today on the theme of the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The key message of their prayer today centred around being inspired by Jesus’ words of love so that we can share this love with others. I often think about what this might mean for us as people - and how we might be able to do this. I then turned to our school prayer, which I think describes how we might do this perfectly: “May we be welcoming to all, May we care for the Earth and all things on it; and May we be generous in helping those in need”. Sometimes it is the smallest acts that we do which can lift up others.
READERS CUP
Congratulations to our students, Sarie, Jack, Scarlett and Ruby who participated in Readers Cup this year. They had to read a series of books over the last 12 weeks, with it culminating in a trivia style competition on Wednesday night. Our students placed 9th which is a huge achievement with a lot of schools from around NQ competing.
