Thank you to everyone who was able to come to the Swimming Carnival this morning. It was a wonderful event and the students were kept very busy throughout. I was very impressed by the good spirit of the students, their overall behaviour and their ‘have a go attitudes’.. Thank you to all parents who were able to assist throughout the day with the various jobs, particularly with the BBQ. We received some very pleasing feedback from the staff at the Long Tan Swimming Pool about our community which is always great to hear. Thank you to Mr Christie and Mr P who did all the planning and organisation for today’s event. Thank you to all staff who contributed throughout the day ensuring our kids had a fabulous day and were encouraged with each activity to do their best.
Next week we have our End of Year Mass on Friday morning and we would love to see as many families come along as possible as it is a great way to acknowledge the year coming to a conclusion and to rejoice about the next year ahead.
Cheers
Penny
What a big day swimming carnival day is! It was great to see so many of our students get into the pool and give in their best go! A big congratulations to Dthulla House who took home the trophy today!
Vinnies Christmas Appeal
Next week, we are starting our support of the Vinnies Christmas Appeal. Each pod/year level will have a basket placed outside of their classroom for people to donate any items to support those people within our community who might be doing it tough. The St Vincent de Paul Society then put together these donations and create hampers for families around what can be a difficult time of the year. Any support would be greatly appreciated! Please see the flyer below to see items you might be able to donate to this worthy cause.
End of Year Mass
This will be celebrated by Fr Clement on Friday November 25. We will celebrate the year that was and farewell our departing Year 6 students as a group. ALL are welcome to attend.
Step up Orientation Day
Our ‘Step Up’ Day will take place on Tuesday November 29 between 9:00am and 10:30am. ALL students attending St Benedict’s in 2023 will spend the morning with their classroom teacher and peers for 2023. Our teachers and students are always very excited for this day. This event is specifically for students. Parents of new students are invited to attend at the Hall where they can talk to the Leadership Team, OSHC staff and other community members.
O Holy Night
Our Christmas Carols event under the stars is back again this year (weather permitting) on Wednesday November 30. All classes (as well as the Kindy) perform at the event. ALL are welcome to attend this event.

Planning Days
Can you believe this year is almost at an end and we are already thinking about 2023?! At this time of year myself and teachers are taking part in Planning Days. Planning days in Term 4 are an invaluable opportunity to collaboratively reflect and plan for the year ahead. During this day, teachers are able to analyse student data and begin to identify students strengths and think about learning goals. We also spend this time planning for Term 1 using the Australian Curriculum. Doing this enables us to know our students the best way we can, ready to begin learning and teaching in Term 1! I also wanted to take this time to say a big thank you to all of our teachers for the time and effort they put into selecting high impact teaching strategies, differentiating learning, and focusing on student needs. A well earned rest is only a few weeks away (for teachers and students alike ?).
Yours in Learning,
Aleesha Rockemer (Learning and Teaching Adviser)
