What a colourful day we’ve had today! It was so wonderful to see so many of our staff, students (and parents!) join in dressing up for our Book Week Parade this morning. We trialed a new format this year with the parade moving around the library and our parents and students watching from the sides. It certainly felt like a wonderful day of celebrating the life and joy that books (and movies based on books, books based on movies, books based on sports stars, etc) bring to our lives. You could really see the effort that families and friends had put into the costumes and it really added to the atmosphere of the day.

Eisteddfod Times

Week 10 will see most of our classes participating in the Townsville Eisteddfod, presenting the poems that the whole class has been performing in class. I have attached a list of the dates and approximate start times of each of the classes - please note, these are approximate and sections may start before/after this time. Parents / carers and welcome to attend, with all sections taking place at the Townsville Civic Theatre. Please know that this is a ticketed event, with tickets available on the day - OR if you are attending multiple times, you can also get passes. It’s been lovely walking around the school and hearing so many classes preparing their poems - they are already sounding wonderful!

Last chance to book a Parent/Teacher Interview

We are holding optional Parent-Teacher Interviews on Tuesday 5th September and Wednesday 6th September. The interviews will be held in the Hall from 3.30pm till 5.30pm each day.

Please feel welcome to use the ‘Compass Parent Portal’ to book a 10-minute time slot to attend an interview.
If you are using your phone to make your interview booking, please check that you are using the latest version of the Compass App to ensure you have all the features that have recently been added.
If you are experiencing difficulty booking your interview, please call the office and they will assist you.
The booking system will close at midday on Friday 1st September. Please ensure that you have booked a session by this date.
We look forward to discussing your child's progress.

Planning Days

As the Learning and Teaching Adviser, I am excited to join teachers during the Planning days in our term again. Together, we dive into student data, carefully select effective teaching strategies, and craft student-centered learning experiences aligned with the Australian Curriculum. These collaborative sessions empower us to create engaging and impactful lessons that will benefit our students' academic journey. I am always very proud and appreciative of the teachers at St Benedict’s for the passion and expertise they bring to these days.

This week we had PTE (Private) Bayley Glover from 25 Support Squadron, 3CER (Combat Engineer Regment) collect donations that they are taking to Papua New Guinea schools on behalf of our school and Defence families.
