What a week to end our term! We have been so proud of the Year 2 and Year 3 students participating in the Eisteddfod, presenting well practised poems with such enthusiasm and confidence despite a few nerves along the way. Our 4/5/6 class presented a play this morning and were awarded with third place as were our Year 2.s on Wednesday. The highlight of the week was our Ecofest hosted by the senior class. It was fabulous to see so many parents and families come along to participate in the day and to have so many members of the wider community supporting the event with stalls and information sessions. There was lots of interaction and students were thoroughly engaged in all the experiences available to them. We look forward to making this an annual event that will evolve into a significant showcase of environmental learning.

Over the holidays, one of our dads, Corey Stephenson is going to lay the concrete foundation for the Year 2 Chicken Coop and we may even see the Chicken Coop erected over the holidays too. Bring on the progress of the Eggs Benedicts Project and big thanks to ZBW Concreting Services.
Next term we can look forward to a couple of key events you may like to add to your calendar. In Week 3 we have a Student Free day on Monday 22 October and Day for Daniel on Friday 26 October which is when we also celebrate World Teachers Day. We have Book Fair in Week 4 along with an Outdoor Classroom Day where we will also have a Market Day for Missions Month. We have swimming lessons starting in Week 5 culminating with our Swimming Carnival on Thursday Nov 15 and in the last week we will have our End of Year liturgy and farewell for our Year 6’s on Monday 3 Dec. We will also have a Step up Orientation Day on Tuesday Dec 4 where all our new Prep students for 2019 and our new teachers will join us and all students will meet them in their new classrooms. A whole school community event we can look forward to will be our ‘O Holy Night’ Christmas carols evening on Wed Dec 5. Throughout Term 4 our school will participate in a Christmas Appeal on behalf on St Vincent dePauls which will be a great opportunity for our students to learn about the needs of others. So many things coming up….
For now though, let’s enjoy the break. I hope you all get to spend some valuable time with your families and that the kids can have some well earned relaxation time.
Cheers
Penny
Wow, Term 3 over already. The Kookaburras have experienced so much this term that we thought we would share our best moments of this term. STEAM projects this term have been a hit. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths or sometimes known as STREAM with the added R for Religion. It involves the students selecting challenges and using various resources they have to meet these challenges. The planning phase and improving phase is just as important as the actual making. Some found these challenges are hard eg. making a newspaper and foil chair strong enough to hold a teddy or a marble maze out of cardboard and straws. The students are so engaged and on-task during these sessions and it is great to see them shine. Here are some pictures of some of the projects.
